was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta and has resided in BC since 1969. He has been involved in funeral service since 1980 and graduated from the B.C. Funeral Service Apprenticeship Program in 1982. He started with Bowers Funeral Home in Salmon Arm in 1984 and has been involved in the operation of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home since that time. In 1990, Gary along with his partners, Jack Bowers and Kevin Bolen bought out the existing business and buildings from the Brandon family and have been operating the business under the Brandon Bowers name ever since.
Gary’s hobbies include scuba diving, gardening, and his motorcycle. He lives in Revelstoke with his wife, Chrissie and they have three grown children, one grandson and one granddaughter.
was born and raised in Revelstoke and has been involved in the funeral home since 1990. Her duties include running the office and preparing documentation, memorial cards and guest books for funerals. She also assists on funerals and helps wherever assistance is required. Chrissie enjoys an active lifestyle and her hobbies include knitting and gardening.
was born and raised in South Africa where he had been an active funeral director since 1996. André and his wife, Elaine and children, Cameron and Emily relocated to Salmon Arm in August, 2008. André graduated from the B.C. Funeral Service Apprenticeship Program in 2009. He enjoys outdoor activities, such as running and cycling.
, born and raised in Salmon Arm, is the owner of Bowers Funeral Service. He purchased the funeral home in 1972 from his father, Thomas Bowers. Jack lives in Salmon Arm with his wife, Gayle. Along with funeral service, Jack has many other endeavours to keep himself busy. In past years, he started a number of townhouse developments, as well as the purchase and renovation of a local hotel into a seniors' residence. Business, however, is not Jack's sole pastime; he was a long-time member of the board of the Salmar Community Association and continues to play an active role in the community. Jack is also very physically active and has completed four Ironman Triathlons (a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run).
, born and raised in Enderby, is the manager-partner at Bowers Funeral Service. Kevin started working part-time while still attending school. After graduation in 1982, Kevin enrolled in the BC Funeral Service Apprenticeship Program. Currently, Kevin is serving as a director on the board of the BC Family Funeral Association and is a past president of the Shuswap Hospice Society. Aside from the funeral profession, Kevin has recently taken up square and round dancing and has completed the Vancouver Marathon three times. Kevin lives in Salmon Arm with his wife, Jacquie. They have two children, Craig and Alex.
was born in Vancouver and took most of her schooling in Armstrong. Although she played a supporting role to Kevin in his career over the last 20 years, she only began working full time at the funeral home in November of 2004. Jacquie completes most of the government paper work and handles the creation of memorial books, cards and DVD tributes. Jacquie enjoys volunteering with her church's Friendship Club (people with cognitive impairments), round and square dancing and coaching Special Olympics bowling.
was born in Swansea, Wales. She was raised in Toronto, Ontario, but the Shuswap area has been Naomi's home since 1982. Naomi has been supporting grieving families in our community since 1988. She has facilitated many workshops on a variety of topics relating to grief and loss. She is employed by School District #83 as a grief counselor. She lives with her husband, Keith, on their farm at White Lake. They have five grown children. Naomi's interests include crafts, gardening, round dancing and her five grandchildren.
was born and raised in Salmon Arm. She attended UNBC in Prince George, obtaining her Master's Degree in Psychology. Currently, she runs a private counseling practice, but is also active in the funeral home as a registered celebrant and an apprentice funeral director. Capreece has many years of experience working with families who have suffered grief and loss. She enjoys biking and outdoor activities. She lives with her husband, Mike, and their two children, Jasmine and Sam.
was born and raised in Salmon Arm. Although a forest technician by trade, Dave has enjoyed a number of career changes including working in the dairy industry. Davegraduated from the B.C. Funeral Service Apprenticeship Program in 2009. He enjoys a variety of endurance sports and is an active member of the Larch Hills Nordic Society. Dave makes his home in the Grandview Bench area with his wife, Terry and children, Trevor and Sarah.
