On January 6, 2021, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away with his family by his side. We are comforted that he is now celebrating in heaven.
August was born in Burum, The Netherlands, in 1937. He immigrated to Canada in 1956 with little more then the clothes on his back. His sweetheart, Alice, followed him to Canada and they were married on November 28, 1958. After part-time farming in Victoria and Abbotsford, they started dairy farming in Armstrong in 1972, then moved to Enderby in 1974. August was active in the dairy industry with various local, provincial, and national organizations. After he "retired" from the dairy industry, he became a beef feedlot producer and served as a local director and chairman of the BC beef Feeders association and represented BC beef producers in the Canada Beef Association. In addition, August and Alice were founding members of two different churches and August has been on church boards numerous times! He will be missed by his wife, 5 children, 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren!
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank.
The family invites you to watch their tribute, which they lovingly prepared in honour of August.
