December 20, 1921 ~ November 25, 2023 (age 101) 101 Years Old
Our very loved dad, brother, uncle, and grandfather, Jerry Joyner passed away peacefully in hospice, with his wife Rita by his side, on Saturday November 25, 2023.
He was born in El Campo, Texas in 1921 and lived a good long life to age 101. He was raised during the depression on small farms growing and picking cotton with his parents Velma and George, and brothers Loman and Jacob. He served in WW2 as a medical assistant. He worked in radio engineering and taught at colleges in the US in the 1940’s and 50’s, and later worked as an electrical engineer. He settled in the Okanagan Valley over 55 years ago to raise his family with the love of his life Rita.
Dad loved gardening, raising animals, helping his neighbours, keeping up with technology, repairing everything in his home, and taking care of Rita and his family.
He is remembered with love by all his family members in Canada and the US. Jerry leaves behind his children Russell (Katia), Pam (Michael, Sierra & Liam), Andy (Debbie, Ian & Lachlan), as well as many extended family members who were warmly remembered by Jerry.
