Rolf "Roger" Burmeister

Rolf (also known as Roger) Burmeister passed away on September 8, 2022, in Kelowna, British Columbia.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 pm on September 24, 2022, at the Bower Funeral Home in Salmon Arm, British Columbia.

Roger was born in Collinghorst, Germany to Otto and Hilde Burmeister on June 12, 1941.

He took his basic schooling in Westrhauderfeen and following that he completed a higher level of education allowing him to become educated in the “business world”. Like all German men at the time, Roger served in the “Deutsche Bundeswehr”. Once his military service was completed, he worked as an apprentice at a bank where he learned how to become a skilled businessman. In 1969 he married Erika Eilers, and in August 1970 became a father to their daughter Imke Burmeister and he became a stepfather to Claudia and Clemens Takenberg. During this time, he started his career as a real estate agent and ventured out to become a successful business owner.

He moved to Alberta, Canada in 1984. Roger continued to work as a real estate agent, specializing in large farms, as he had his own farm and ranch. He worked hard and helped many people immigrate to Canada. In 2009, he moved to Salmon Arm, British Columbia with his new wife Natalya.

Roger was successful in everything he touched. He liked to keep busy with planning and building and he did so until earlier this year. He had a very interesting and busy life. He was known for his crazy adventures which included: hunting in Scotland, hitchhiking from Germany to Tunis, North Africa, white water rafting in the Yukon, hunting and dog sledding in Alaska, and hiking the West Coast Trail. He loved the outdoors, where he could breathe and think.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents Otto and Hilde Burmeister, his sisters Ute and Gisela Burmeister. Roger is survived by his wife Natalya Burmeister, his daughter Imke Burmeister, his sister Elke Schaub and his grandson Lucas Burmeister.
