Born and raised in Salmon Arm, Jack lives in Salmon Arm with his wife, Gayle. He purchased the funeral home in 1972 from his father, Thomas Bowers. Along with funeral service, Jack has many other endeavours to keep himself busy. In past years, he has been involved in local business and plays an active role in the community. He was a long-term member of the board of the Salmar Community Association and enjoys giving back to the community. Jack also enjoys staying active as an avid cyclist and runner, completing four Ironman Triathlons over the years.
Born and raised in Enderby, Kevin lives in Salmon Arm with his wife, Jacquie. Kevin started working at Bowers Funeral Service part-time while still attending school in 1980. After graduation in 1982, Kevin enrolled in the BC Funeral Service Apprenticeship Program. Kevin has served as a director on the board of the BC Family Funeral Association and is a past president of the Shuswap Hospice Society.
Dave was born and raised in Salmon Arm and enjoys serving the families of the community through the funeral home. Although a forest technician by trade, Dave graduated from the Canadian College of Funeral Service in 2009. Dave enjoys a variety of endurance sports and is an active member of the Larch Hills Nordic Society. He makes his home in the Grandview Bench area with his wife, Terry. They have two grown children, Trevor and Sarah, and one grandson.
In the summer of 2018 Ashley moved to Salmon Arm from Kamloops to join the Bower’s team as a Funeral Director/Embalmer. Ashley has a passion for serving the community through her work in funeral service and is excited to be a part of this wonderful community. She is honored to be entrusted with the care of every person she serves and enjoys helping families celebrate their loved one’s life in the most unique way possible. In her spare time Ashley enjoys spending time snuggled up reading or watching movies, hiking, running, spending time with family and friends and is looking forward to exploring all the outdoor activities that the Shuswap has to offer.
Sarah moved to Salmon Arm in the summer of 2016. She joined the Bowers team as the office administrator and is involved in a variety of aspects in the running of the funeral home. Sarah has a love for the outdoors, and spends her spare time gardening, rock climbing, mountain biking and x-country skiing. She also has a passion for refurbishing old furniture and working on small DIY projects.
Capreece was born and raised in Salmon Arm, attended UNBC in Prince George and obtained her Master’s Degree in Psychology. Currently, she runs a private counseling practice, but is also active in the funeral home as a registered celebrant and funeral director. Capreece has many years of experience working with families who have suffered grief and loss. She enjoys biking and outdoor activities and lives with her husband, Mike, and their two children, Jasmine and Sam.
Gary was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta and has resided in BC since 1969. He has been involved in funeral service since 1980 and graduated from the BC Funeral Service Apprenticeship Program in 1982. He started with Bowers Funeral Service in Salmon Arm in 1984 and has been involved in the operation of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home since that time. In 1990, Gary, along with his partners, Jack Bowers and Kevin Bolen bought out the existing business and buildings from the Brandon family and have been operating the business under the Brandon Bowers name ever since. Gary’s hobbies include scuba diving, gardening and his motorcycle. He lives in Revelstoke with his wife, Chrissie and they have three grown children, three grandsons and two granddaughters.
Chrissie was born and raised in Revelstoke and has been involved in the funeral home since 1990. Her duties include running the office and preparing documentation, memorial cards and guest books for funerals. She also assists with funerals and helps wherever assistance is required. Chrissie enjoys an active lifestyle and her hobbies include knitting, gardening, walking and spending time with her grandchildren.
Nina was born and raised in Manitoba. She has lived in Golden for most of her life. Her duties include assisting with families and most facets of funerals as well as the maintenance and upkeep of the grounds and building. She and her husband David have two grown children as well as two granddaughters.
